Home Science is a branch of science, which primarily deals with home and personal creativity. However, the scopes of all subjects are quite vast and varied and surpass the area of cooking, home decoration, and needlework. S Chandra Mahila Mahavidyalaya Sadak Arjuni Dist. Gondia runs under the management of Adiwashi Shaikshanik Sansodhan Sanstha Sadak Arjuni Dist Gondia. The society starts this institute in such rural & Naxal affected area with graduate programme to provide the positive link between education and development has been accepted and established. Establishment Department of Home Science from the year 2008 and affiliated with Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University, Nagpur. Students are very much anxious to devote more time in practical, which ultimately lead there orientation towards skill, personality and entrepreneurship development. It ultimate helped them in creative jobs for themselves and others. Such areas are home nutrient home decorators, flower decorators and event managers, diet planners, home care etc. Maintaining personal and family hygiene is an important aspect of home science which is of moralistic apprehension.
The department envisions to gives the young women an insight into the practical, scientific, economic, social aspects of running a home and also mind set to work out solutions to problems encountered in the lives. The department aims to train the students to meet the needs of rural and urban families as contributors to food production, environment conservation and enhancement of human resources. To develop the Human Resource in the field of Nutrition and Dietetics, Food science, Extension Education, Textiles and laundry Science, Child development, Family resource management, Health awareness and Community nutrition. To develop the department a Centre of Excellence in the field of Home Science.
The mission of Home Science department is empowerment of Woman and girl students of rural and urban households through learning of the house hold management skills like Family Resources Management] Child Care, low Cost Diet Preparation, Diet Planning and Flower Decoration, Vocational Skills, and Interior Decoration.
Home Science is an interdisciplinary field of study which encompasses the discipline of Arts, Basic Science, Architecture and Humanities.
